About Our Sofas
Peace of Mind
Premier Care Fabric Protection
We strongly recommend having your furniture treated with Premier Care Fabric Protector - the only fabric protection programme that gives maximum protection for five years against all spills and stains. Highly effective in preventing stains caused by food, drink, cosmetics, ink, paint and even bleach, Premier Care acts as an invisible and odourless protective layer that stops any spillages from penetrating the fabric and destroying the fibres.
Premier Care Leather Protection
Available on all leather models, Premier Care insures you for five years against any accidental rips, tears, burns or scratches, and includes a free leather cleaning kit. Should an accident happen, trained technicians are on hand to offer advice and repair/replace any affected items.
All our range is independently tested and stringently prototyped before production commences, and passes all British Standards for General Domestic Use and furniture regulations for Fire and Safety including the current Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations.
Price
Why are our prices are at least 50% lower than the equivalent high street prices of similar standard furniture?
Firstly, and most importantly, because we manufacture all our products and deliver direct to the customer, we bypass the retailer and his profit margins. Unlike other sofa websites we are not simply an online shop selling furniture manufactured by others. We are the manufacturer so when you buy from SofaSofa you buy direct. Put simply, our prices are trade prices direct from the manufacturer.
Also, because we have grown to become the largest direct supplier of upholstery in the UK we have substantial buying power and can source our materials at bulk discounts which in turn allows us to reduce our selling prices further.
We deliver direct from our South Wales factories to any address on the UK mainland using our fleet of liveried 7.5 tonne lorries. All furniture deliveries are undertaken by a two man delivery team who will deliver your new furniture to the room of your choice, remove all packaging and allow you to inspect your new upholstery before they leave. Our despatch department will contact you at least one week before your delivery to inform you of the anticipated dates. The delivery team will then contact you to arrange a three hour delivery window.
We charge a maximum of £50 for delivery within the UK Mainland. Please note delivery to remote Scottish regions may incur an additional delivery charge. Please telephone for details.
The current approximate delivery time is 4-6 weeks. Please refer to the specific product page for more accurate delivery times.
Quality
With sofas at these prices you would be forgiven for questioning the quality of our furniture. After all, if something is on sale for half the price at which it is available elsewhere, how good can it actually be?
To understand how we work, it is important to remember that all our products are manufactured in one of our four workshops in South Wales by our expert team of craftsmen, many of whom have been with us since we started up 29 years ago. Unlike the majority of furniture sold in the UK today we do not supply cheap imported furniture but rather insist on continuing to manufacture in the UK, thereby ensuring the highest standard of quality control. By manufacturing in-house we maintain a strict control over parts and workmanship and also minimise potential transport damage.
All our models are stringently prototyped and tested to pass all relevant British Standards for General Domestic Use, and comply with current Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations. In addition, all fabrics and interiors are painstakingly sourced with durability and comfort in mind, and pass twelve independent British Standard tests (BS 2543) before we authorise them for sale.
Our Leather Types
We offer six different types of leather to suit your specific requirement.
Softgrain Leather
Pigment-dyed leather which is sanded to remove most natural markings, and embossed to create a uniform grain. The leather is then coated with a clear sealant to enhance stain resistance.
Saddle Leather
Semi-aniline leather which is coloured with natural aniline dyes and slightly pigmented with a clear top coat for protection. Natural markings and scars are retained to preserve the natural appearance.
New England Leather
Semi-aniline leather which is lightly brushed to create a soft handle and distressed appearance.
Antique Leather
Corrected grain leather which is stained with Florantique and coated with a clear sealant to maximize stain resistance.
Cambridge Leather
Semi-aniline leather which has a soft handle and variable grain structure. A slightly darker top coat is applied to the grain tips to produce a subtle mottling effect.
Oregon Leather
Corrected grain leather which is deeply embossed with a grain imprint and sealed to guard against staining.
